Collection of 360° Panoramas at Devarayana durga Hills, Tumkur, Karnataka.

Location Interpretation Center

We see location interpretation as a way to understand ones surroundings, as a platform to share and gain knowledge. It may help in deeper understanding of biodiversity, history and other aspects of a region. It could serve as data for future planning and development of a region. Our first center of this kind is proposed at Devarayana Durga hills near Tumkur, Karnataka. Specifically a disused travelers bungalow near the Bhoganarasimha temple.

The goal is to bring all kinds of data pertinent to a location together through user driven interactive game based technologies.

The center in its physical form will serve as an information hub for tourists and researchers. Interactive touch screen walls and other possible 3D viewing systems with gesture recognition is envisioned.

Complementing the center will be an app that can take and view photos, panoramas with features such as geo tagging, annotating an area, comment, share and view images close by.

We are exploring WebGL for the purpose of rendering 360° panoramas that can be annotated and allows navigation to other panoramas.

User generated content can be curated. A user can decide whose curation to follow and thus the user can build him/herself a custom guide.

Traveller's Bungalow in Devarayana Durga

Traveller's Bungalows in india were built by British during the colonial rule, primarily to assist travellers for rest and recreation.

Below you can see Views of Devarayana Duraga captured from the Traveller's Bungalow near Bhoga Narasimha Temple.

This is where we want to setup our first Interpretation Center. We plan to turn the space into a modern interactive mesuem of sorts where people can explore the surrounding area in an interactive and explorative manner.

Note: Requires WebGL to run.
